FWIW - my 15 HD SLT 6.0 had the original headlight bulbs replaced under a silent campaign for the issue of LACK of lightbeam width, new bulbs are only slightly better (dealer said the new bulbs required the truck computer to be re-flashed) ... I never have had the issue you have

Interesting to know.

I’m trying to convince myself that this is normal and just ignore it, but wow, hard to ignore driving 20 MPH on a 5 year old residential street. No way a company would use lights like this on purpose. GMC is still dodging though.

No, I do not and have not.

(but I've been in a bunch of assembly plants -- GM and others)

Did spend a bunch of years in tier one metal suppliers, but no longer in auto parts business.

just bought a 17 hd gas. salesmans job is to get you to sign on the dotted line, after that its the service dept to try and resolve any problems. I bought my truck online and didn't even take it for a ride before I bought it. big mistake. you should take the salesperson and go for a 50 mile ride over all different roads in the evening.all the issues I had were never fixed.gm doesn't care about repeat customers. just current sales. if you threated to go to a different make it doesn't bother them at all. your stuck with that vehicle unless you qualify for the lemmon law.good luck on dealing with them. never drive a truck off the lot unless your happy with it. that's when you loose your leverage

one thing I notice on my 17 hd is that the low beam is on the top and the high beam is on the bottom. I'm not an engineer but wouldn't common sense tell you that they would work better if they were turned around. my low beams put out about as much light as a cheap flashlight.all my other trucks were better than this newone.we have a 2004 Colorado that has better lights.where the progress. com on gm. wake up. don't you do any light testing.

Thanks.

I hear ya on the ‘only caring about sales’ thing. I havn’t even told them I wanted to switch, cause honestly I love everything about the truck, except for lights that don’t operate like all others. I came from a very high-end vehicle, and I am still impressed with many of the features and interior quality; but I wonder why they would choose a HID bulb instead of LED???? My last vehicle was WAY brighter, and it was LED, so it can’t be for brightness. I just wish someone from GMC gave enough crap to explain the reasoning, you know, since they say they are supposed to shake, (per their memo).

My Silverado lights weren’t very good at casting light however when I leveled my truck it took care of the problem. Now they light the road up correctly.

Any new news about your truck issue ?

The Detroit automaker, which lost $3.9 billion last year, announced profit-sharing as part of its full 2017 earnings report. Before taxes, GM made $12.8 billion on $145.6 billion in revenue. Its pre-tax profits in North America totaled $11.9 billion, and that’s the figure profit-sharing is based on.
