Tomorrow morning I will drive my 1999 Sierra to work.  I take it out of winter storage and get to drive it for the first time in months!   I am excited.

Here are the specifications:

5.3 with fuel injection.

193k miles and doesn't burn a drop between oil changes

All lifters work nicely

Throttle CABLE

4 speed automatic shifts crisply and efficiently

16 mpg normal driving

20 mpg highway

3:73 rear gear

No shimmy or shake

One owner

Denali +1 Forged wheels

No cracks in any leather because I have cloth seats

King of the road - my insurance is half what I priced a new pickup at for insurance.

:)

Cool.  Why was it is storage to begin with?  Is it 2wd or something?

Mike the local lazy ass road commission don’t properly plow around here. They just dump salt and CC down and let taxpayers drive over the mess and splash it off the roads. Truck is 4wd capable (well, it spends 99.99% in RWD mode) but since new it has seen only 3 trips up north in January towing.

Anyway, I have an AWD car that is my winter ride that has good corrosion resistance [emoji1]. Better CG for more fun.

I see.  I got mine used and it is the bad weather vehicle.  Or at least was.  Now that I have the 15, my daughter will start using the 00 this summer once she gets her license.  Last good snow we had, I took her out in it and found a nice big parking lot and taught her how to drive it in the snow.  We may or may not have done lots of donuts as well....

You are making me sad. I sold my 1998 low mileage reg cab long box K1500 when I bought the current truck. Had to have a place for kids seats. But I totally get the salt comments. We have the same problem on the other side of Lake Michigan. Salt must be cheap.

very nice. I can't wait to do that. but its about 12 years away for me. haha. Hopefully she'll get to drive the truck that was born the same year as she was.

Seriously. More parents need to teach what car control is and what can happen when things “go wrong”. Thumbs up Mike.

I agree.  Car control means so much more than just basic operation.  This summer, I also hope to get her out to a couple autocross events to learn more advanced car control.
