FABTECH Pro Desert Guard

I want to install this pre-runner type grill guard but I am concerned about where it mounts? Does it mount to the frame? Will I be able to retain my stock tow hooks? Does the guard bolt to anything at the botom?

I looked into this one time when I thought I wanted it. I still don't know but for me I would need to do a little fabrication since my truck has a 3" body lift. To answer your question better go here to their site and download the instructions for the one you want.

I only saw one out there for the 99-01 but I imagine they have one for the 02.

First you need to remove the plastic factory shield. The bottom part re uses the holes the factory shield used. To hold the top part of the bumper you need to hold up the febtech piece and drill the bumper. Installation looks real easy.

They don't make this for a 3" body lifted truck but if there where a couple of part fabricated it would work as well.

If you don't mind me asking, how much are you getting it for and where are you getting it. I called around to a couple of places here in Phoenix and the price ranges dramatically by about $100. I think I was quoted a price of $400 was the cheapest.

According to those directions, you drill 4 holes into the chrome part of your bumber... and I personally would not like that too much. If you ever decided to take that off, you'd have 4 big ol holes on it. Still looks cool with the 2 9" round lights on there, but I don't like drilling into my rig. My $.02
