I got a 6" curt drop hitch and it is supper sloppy. The curt rubber hitch plug wont even stay in...

Is it just that wore out or is it that curt hitch parts run smaller in size?

Whatcha you got for a truck? 6” drop seems excessive on a 67 Impailer unless it’s one of those DONK things.

Anyway some GM trucks have 2” receivers some GM trucks have 2.5 receivers if it’s factory. Some aftermarkets are 2.5 depending on class size. If you got a 2.5 you need a 2.5 to 2 adapter they are 30ish bucks.

I’m glad you don’t ruin your rides! It amazes me what some people do to destroy them.

Anyway I’ve noticed the same thing with the hitch on my 1500. I have 2 Curts one for each trailer both fit loose, have a extra off brand same thing, and a custom cover/plug that’s also the same. Used some adhesive backed 1/4” foam on the cover cause it was rubbing the powder coat off from rattling around. On my old squarebodies and my 01 2500HD I have to beat/tap them in because of rust. On my 98 Tahoe I had to cut the one that was in it when I got it off cause the previous owner never removed it. It was so rusted it didn’t even budge with a sledge hammer and the blue wrench. So if you wait a couple years you probably won’t need the shims anymore?

If you do a google image search for receiver hitch anti rattle shim you’ll see all kinds of “fixes” from all kinds of companies. Below is the “fix” for the Yota plugs
