Navigation Updates

Anyone know a better way to get updates for the Navigation?  It's with tax $150 and they do not give a year of updates with that.  If you purchase today and then a new update is available next week, you pay full price again.

GM NAV updates only come out about once every 12-16 months.  Unfortunately they are tied to your VIN so they can't be copied and they are only available directly from GM (actually made for them by NavTeq):

Your only other choice is to upgrade your HMI to a 2017+ then use Android Auto or Apple CarPlay along with a map program on your phone.

You can also choose to purchase updated maps at half price when doing an HMI unlock for video in motion/nav in motion/ front camera/rear camera in motion etc.

Do yourself a favor and forget about the GM navigation system - it sucks!  I've purchased updates for my 2014 GMC and the updates are way behind the actual conditions.  New highways that have been opened for over a year or two still do not show up.

I purchased a Garmin GPS with lifetime map updates for about the same price as one GM update. The Garmain GPS is MUCH more accurate and user friendly!
