Just out of curiosity, do you have any cool little diy mods done to your truck? I have a few that i will take pics of that i have done with mine. None of them have a huge wow factor or anything like that but i thought they were nice additions.

Mods? I have modded many other rigs much more than my current Chevys, but I have made a few.

I increased the tire size, to 265/75/16   10 ply.

Went with aluminum wheels that create a wider stance for the vehicle.

Re-wired the dash 12V outlets so that they turn off when the key is removed, so the dash cam and radar detector turn off.

Installed a hidden ignition kill switch, so even with the keys it cant be stolen

   Bug deflector on the hood

Emergency survival back pack in the rig at all times (food, blankets, ammo, playing cards, portable CB, knives, first aid, etc)

Dual electric cooling fans on independent thermostats

In dash DVD with GPS navigation and bluetooth phone

   Thule roof box

Hidden "hide a key" box that has a key and emergency cash.

   "oiled" paper air filter element

   Rain gutters on the windows

   Remotes start

   Etc.

    Nothing major.

Ah compustar strikes again! That unit is more directly compatible with idatalink since it will interface through a direct data connection but either one will work.

the connections are as follows:

Red on compustar main harness to red wire on the ignition harness

Red and white on compustar main harness to other red wire on ignition harness

Yellow on compustar main harness to yellow on ignition harness

Blue on compustar main harness to pink on the ignition harness

Green on compustar main harness to white one the main ignition harness

White on compustar main harness to orange on main ignition harness

you need to either relay or tee the white compustar wire to the brown wire on the main ignition harness or you will get a transmission code

Bcm is located just under steering column

Green/white on cn2 harness to grey and black on the brown bcm plug (park lights)

White on cn2 harness to black on grey bcm plug (horn trigger)

Light blue and white on cn2 harness to white wire on brake switch

mic you chose to use the idatalink (which I’d recommend with this setup) all you would have to do is connect the data cable between the compustar and the idatalink, connect the pink wire from the idatalink to the blue wire on the compustar main harness and connect the orange wire from the idatalink to the purple wire on the obd-2 connector and do the programming procedure and bam! Everything should work! Door locks, tach sense, everything!

if you decide to go the rout of using an idatalink, it will need to be programmed which I can do. Also for the price and ease of install, I recommend to anyone looking to do this in the future that you use either viper, python or avital. All made by directed electronics and hands down the best product on the market.

Well as lucky as I am..... I am getting absolutely no ohm readings from my ignition switch when checking with my meter. With either of my keys. Now, damn truck won’t start and run....

Ok. Took a guess on the resistor and got it started. Now the directions with the system are a little confusing. I mean this is my first keyless/remote start install so I’m a little lost. Enough for today tho. I’m wore the hell out from work. Guess I’ll have to try some more tomorrow at work....

The remote start instructions are often frustrating and confusing. I have done many, and some were particularly easy. Some were very hard. Your remote start instructions only give you the wiring chart for that unit. You need a wiring chart for your truck. Then you match the two up. You must be very patient, and don't try to get it all done in one day. It may take several different attempts with research in between each wiring session.

Getting your ignition bypassed is a great start. You already solved the biggest and most important issue of the project.

I will help you get it installed if you would like.

You will need to Google your wiring diagram. It should look something like this:

I’ve got the ignition bypassed. Truck runs and drives.

Looks like my problem is:
Can’t figure out where to connect the white wire from the cs800 module.

Have to wire relays in for the door locks to reverse the polarity for the lock/unlock trigger.

My truck is a 2002 Silverado 1500 and for whatever reason I just have the hardest time finding certain info on the damn thing.... lol
