2015 6-8 inch lifts..tires

Hey guys, got my 2015 1500 ltz..looking to lift it 6-8 inches and get new 22inch rims. 

What's lifts work great? And what width for the rims could I clear I want a nice 3-4 inch deep lip. Also size tires?

Any thoughts?

I have a 2015 with a six inch fabtech lift. I run 305/65R18 my next set will be 34x12.5 x18 I am a fan of the BFG TA KO2. You can go bigger with this lift but then you need to modify your wheel wells and remove your mud flaps. I live in the country and drive on gravel roads quite a lot, so I didn’t want to do that. My wheels have a 4.5 inch back space and work well.

 

in regards to wheel size, I am not a fan of huge wheels and tiny sidewalls. If you drive your truck off road or over uneven surfaces- gravel roads, pastures, prairie... having such a small sidewall ratio will negatively impact your ride. You need that potential space to allow for absorption of bumps.  Also with such short sidewalls curb rash becomes a real concern. 

 

IMHO- don’t go so large in tires that your suspension movement is compromised, that defeats the purpose of having a well designed off road capable truck. Tiny sidewalls on a four wheel drive truck take away from functionality as well. A lift/tire and wheel package should improve your truck’s performance.

Well said except for the last part (though it should). Many aren't looking to improve performance but rather it is an image thing, those that want big wide rims and tires sticking out, don't do any homework or research and just join to post a generic often asked question. They aren't looking to improve performance but instead bro-doz... Next step will be lights in the wheel wells and rooftop light bar.

Did you really respond just to insult me...I will admit I'm not doing the lift to go offroading..I like lifted trucks period. On the other things is I'm not a dumb ass who doesnt care how his truck drives..I asked the question because I enjoy seeing what other people run in there trucks and I do my research to see what works best. I drive 70km a day for work so i want my ride to stay similar.

Awesome thanks for that. Ya I understand the pros and cons of big rims with small sidewalls but as I said above I'm not doing offroading I have 22inch rims now and I want to stick with that..obvious just manipulate my tire size to compensate..I'm a mechanic so I do it myself and have done multiple lifts before..the ko2 are amazing I've used them a lot so that might be my tire depending if I can get the size in it.

Any thoughts on the rough country 7 inch knuckle lift..I used the cst 5inch knuckle lift before on my Colorado driveability was great.

I think it comes down to cost versus use and longevity. I think the inexpensive lifts don’t compensate for increased CV joint angle, so that becomes a wear issue. A lot of people use that exact lift and are more than content with it.

 

You can easily spend x3 the cost of that lift to get UCAs, coil overs, shocks, etc. If you’re just after increased ride height on a budget, then that may be the way to go. One thought, although you never recoup money spent on our trucks, you may see better value retention and easier resale when using higher end components.

I’d look BDS, Zone, FTS, Cognito, Fabtech. All make great kits in the 6-8” Range. I have the 4.5” Zone with bilstein 5100s set at 1.25” making my total lift about 5.75”. I run 33x12.5 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on 22x10 AFs, and imo the truck rides excellently. I like big wheels and have had lifted trucks for 16 years, so i know a tiny bit lol.
