Help with ?'s

Hi all,

 

I'm still debating on which muffler to get(the 1 million ? on mufflers). I have chose to go with Flowmaster, but i can't decided on which one to go with.

 

My truck is a 99 GMC ext cab, with the 4.8 v-8. this truch will be used alot to go on long trips with wife and a 6yr and 4yr in truck. I want to get the best sounding muffler, while at stop sign, and when you stepp on the gass, but I dont want it to be too loud at crusing speeds? Any suggestions would be great.

 

i'm thinking either a 70 or 60 flowmaster?

also just took a long road trip about 1,200 total miles, and I was amazed at the mpg, I got 21.5 on the whole trip. where i ususaly get about 16 to 17 while mostly city driving.

I had a 40 series on mine (5.3), and it sounded good, but it was loud in the cab. I had it for a couple years . I now have a 70 series. It's not as loud, but sounds good to me. Much quieter in the cab on the highway. I havn't heard of a 60 series, did you mean 50 series? A 50 series should be louder than a 70, but not as loud as a 40.

I have a 50 series and it sounds like that is what you are after. It is not very obnoxious in the cab at any point in time. Of course, when it's floored I do want to hear the engine, and I do.

yes, they make a 60 series, I can't remember the name it's a step from the 50 series SUV muffler.

 

For the 50 series, did you get the delatflow or the suv muffler type?

 

Do you remember the $ for it?

everyone has a warn and percentage now, but you can only see your own. It's to check how many warnings you've received after people read your posts.

I would go with the 50 series. I like the 40s on mine, but it is loud. Too loud for some people, but oooh does it sound good.
