Silverado bumper with sensors cover up

Recommended Posts

I found a Silverado bumper for sale scratched but no dents. I'm going to paint to match my truck but the bumper has the holes for the sensors, how would I go about covering it up? Perhaps a simple weld and then smoothed?

^^ This guy nailed it. Go to a scrap yard and find some sensors, fill the holes. Would be way less effort than welding and grinding. You would need to back plate the holes and go to town with a mig and grinder, then bondo them smooth, sand, paint, wet sand, all to make it look smooth. A lot of work for sure. Even if you find white sensors you can paint them.

I won't be doing any of the work on the bumper, my local body shop would do all that. My truck didn't come with sensors from factory so I kinda do want to have dummy sensors on the truck.

Personally, if it were me, I'd grab the welder and fill the holes.  I think getting the chrome off the other one would be more of a PIA.

That's my thinking process, it'll be better to repaint a painted bumper than chrome. With the chrome bumper there's a possibility of paint chipping off in pieces if not prepped correct.
