I have a feeling this has been talked about before but here goes.  8 speed transmission seems to shift very rough and hard into gear.  The dealership told me it was normal.  My truck has 40,000 miles on it now and seems to be getting worse!!

There seen to be a lucky few that have had issues with their 8 speed fixed and stay fixed but it's a minority.

There's a trans tech on here that says they are generally unfixable. You may have temporary luck getting a reprogram but issues usually come back. My trans had had multiple updates, a flush, etc. But still acts retarded. I wish you luck!! Only thing these transmissions do well is tow and haul ass when you floor the pedal. I'd you drive nice and easy they are confused.

You are correct.  Pulls my 19' enclosed sled trailer awesome and doesn't have the problem then.  And yes it is kinda fun going from 0 to 90 pretty quick.

I think it has at least a 60,000 mile drive line warranty.

If its still under warranty, go to 10 different dealers. One of them is going to replace the transmission for free. The GM parent company will pay the dealer to do it.
