My 2017 v6 Sierra transmission woes

Hello All,

I have a 2017 v6 Sierra 1500 that I purchased in December 2017. I only have 8100 miles and noticed the past 500 - 1000 miles when accelerating from a stop up to around 40mph you would feel the gears shift abruptly. No surge in RPM's but definitely head bobbing. The same would happen when braking and slowing down into the last 3 gears it would surge forward during each downshift. Sometimes during hard acceleration you could feel it even worse and seems to have lack of power. It turned off grade braking to see if it would help but it did not.

Went to the dealer yesterday morning and they told me they may need it for a few days for a transmission issue. I said ok, I told the Service adviser that I would check before my ride picked me up. Two hours later before I left I asked for an update. The mechanic had just came into the Service office and tells the adviser the transmission has to come out. Not sure what that meant but I guess they found an issue. Been trying to get an update today but no luck. I have to grab a loaner from them since it may be a few more days so I hope to get an update. I will definitely keep you all updated.

Got an update from the dealer. So they have to replace the valve body assembly and had to order a clutch pad kit (I believe that is what they said). They are still waiting on that kit to come in. Their parts center is in NC and was affected by the hurricane. So it looks like another week with a loaner. Factory defect? I haven't hauled anything yet and like I posted earlier car only has 8,100 miles.

Sorry to hear about your truck. Hopefully the loaner is nice. If you don’t have an extended warranty it might not hurt to ask them to give you one for your troubles.

Yeah they loaned me a 2018 Yukon. I have extended warranty but will try to see if I can work something in for the troubles. :)

Finally got the truck back after 13 days. It is definitely driving much better. Here is what they found and what they did.
