15 Silverado won’t read texts

I have a 15 Silverado 2500 with the 8” mylink and an iPhone X upgraded to iOS 12.1. My phone doesn’t give me the option for “show notifications” so that I can get my text messages read out loud. Has anyone else encountered this?

My 15 Sierra 1500 is the same way. It’s never read any text messages. Not sure what the Des is but I have the option for it to read them on the same screen you have.
