Naah not making excuses for GM.  I am highly critical of them if you have seen any of my posts.  I just think some things are silly like rain sensing wipers and auto opening tailgates and what have ya.

I assume you have never driven a vehicle with rain sensing wipers or auto headlights that switch from high to low without driver interaction. They are game changers. The auto sensing cruise is also amazing (my $29000 Nissan leaf had all the features stock) I could care less about my auto tailgate.

I am glad GM has made it possible to get factory navigation for $400 even after you bought your truck without it. That is finally something that makes sense.

I use my phone for all my music and navigation needs. Even the one car we have that has all those features we turn off what we can. Those rain sensing wipers here in Texas will come on when the humidity is high. They’ll scare the sh$t out of you when the come on when the sun shining. I’ll turn the stuff on when I want to not when the car wants to.

I do use android auto and Apple car play but many of the places I go to do not have cellular service and as I'm sure you're aware the GPS on the phone is aGPS (assisted GPS) so it only really functions well as long as there is cellular coverage. That's the reason why I am paying to have navigation added so it's available during those low to no signal times.

I currently have two cars with the rain sensing wipers, an Infiniti and an Audi.  On both I constantly have to tweak the sensitivity to make them work like I want them to work.  For example, they won't kick on in mist even though I can barely see out of the windshield, so I have to reach down and move the sensitivity so they'll take the first swipe. Then again.  It seems they lag behind what is actually happening so I end up adjusting anyway.  And since there is no way to turn them off from being auto sensing and make them manual, I get annoyed and sometimes flip to "on".  I'd rather have full manual adjustment.  Plus, it doesn't rain a helluva lot where I live near Charlotte, so not getting much benefit anyway if they worked.
