It’s at the discretion of the individual stealerships period end of story. Some care some don’t and most seem to think if they did the work then it’s ok anyway... IMO a far amount of this around here anyway seems to be how willing they are to do warranty work to begin with. The one thing we all can agree on is that GM pays less than customers do for the same thing. So stealer A has way to many fresh out of skool techs standing around with their thumb up their azz all day as opposed to stealer B who is trying to run a bare bones operation with a handful of experienced techs they are paying straight hourly. Which stealer do you think isn’t going to blame your leaking shark fin on the CAI under the hood??? Or your 1 size over tires causing your electronic power steering noise???

Of course once corporate GM gets involved they get to overrule any stealer at that point and will require the stealer to provide any and all proof of any and all mods including flash counter reports and photos. Usually this only comes into play for major repairs such as engine replacements ect. Any just because a stealer says no to a warranty claim doesn’t mean corporate does also and visa versus.

None so far at my current dealership. My truck is lifted and when one of my front struts went bad they replaced it under warranty. I have a tune on my truck and the only thing they have ever said was that they had to overwrite the tune and put back to factory when I was getting trans warranty work done. With that said it all comes down to what kind of dealership you are dealing with.
