Expected cost to remove, replace, and paint dented bumper on 2016 Sierra Denali

I was traveling with a storage trailer yesterday and hit a large bump on the Interstate that caused it to come off the ball. Scary but luckily I was able to get it to the service road with the chains and thankfully all were safe. Person where I came to rest said I was the 4th person in 2 weeks to hit that spot and lose a trailer. Called responsible state maintenance department today to report.

Yes, I have insurance but was curious what I should expect for bids to replace and paint for an estimate? Damage appears to be a series of dents across the metal part of the bumper (see pic - not to bad for what happened) Paint color is white tri-frost. I only believe the metal part of bumper has dents and no other damage. It is a 2016 Sierra Denali with painted bumpers. Thanks.

I know it won't be inexpensive just curious on what your experiences tells you the cost should run.

Wow it should never come off the ball and if it did it should RIP all the parts out of the trailer.
Anyways I had same spot damage and honesty it would be cheaper to pay out of pocket. If your deductable is anything $500 or more. It was like $750 or so to replace bumper, all sensors, and upper plastic. With 3 extra spray outs for the color match. I did go with the smooth bump as I hate the pockets.
But point is my insurance goes up a few bucks a month for next 3 years. That's my truck, car, boat, motorcycle, home(3). So I pay like 4k for it all. Not worth it. Or and I'm not saying this but it that happens in a parking lot when you aren't in it and you have broad side. Then it is zero at fault zero deductable. Just saying...

Depending on how handy you are... you could replace it yourself for about $540.

I just replaced my metal shell on my Denali over the weekend after a "Travel Trailer" incident.   Took about 4 hours, but most of that was spent at the kitchen table transferring the plastic trim and parking sensors.

If interested in DIY route, check out MBI Auto on Amazon or ebay.   They sell Painted-to-match bumper shells:

Also, there are several you-tube videos that step through the bumper removal process.

Depending on what state you're in - there's often times a threshold that has to be met before a loss can be surcharged.  In PA your insurer must pay out $1,700 or more for the loss to be considered surcharge'able.  So if you were in PA and you had say a $500 Collision deductible - you'd have to have an estimate of $2,200 or more before that claim would cause you to be surcharged.   You can also try to work out a deal with your body man to pay some extra out of pocket to the keep the insurance share below the $1,700 threshold.

Also regarding 1SLOW1500's comment - in PA - even as a hit & run claim - it still falls under Collision and your deductible still applies.  Only difference is it's non-surchargeable regardless of payout.  Every state insurance law has it's own way of interpreting how hit & runs are handled.  That's how it is in PA.   As far as I recall Michigan is the only state with true "no-fault" auto insurance so I'm sure they handle hit and runs much differently than most.
