Just bought a 2011 Silverado with 135k. What to look for?

Hi. Short-time lurker turned member.

Recently purchased a 2011 1500 with the 4.8. Previous owner had it for four years and ~70,000 miles. He says he's never had a problem with it and has done nothing but oil changes with full synthetic every 4000 miles. This is the only maintenance he's done. I plan dumping a couple cans of BG44k into the gas tank, flushing the coolant and having the transmission tuned up. I don't know these trucks at all but I've owned a few early 90s GM trucks in the past. What do I have to look out for on these? Anything you would add to the list of things to do before I make this my daily? Anything to look out for while I'm doing a coolant/transmission flush?

Thanks

-Kevin

For me, when getting a new-to-me vehicle, I always

-change all the fluids (engine oil and coolant/trans/transfer case/both diffs/brake)

-lube all the joints

-check brake pad thickness

-check steering joints if anything needs to be replaced

You might also want to take a pic of the RPO code sticker in the glove box, and then decode what all the RPO codes are and keep that list on your phone, as they are all the options your vehicle was built with, and it can be useful when buying parts to know what specific option is on your truck (for example, brakes and various oil lines can vary depending on what specific options your truck was built with).

You can also hit up the dealer for an options list, it will run off all your RPOs with a brief description. Nice to have for sure!

davester nailed it though. Also check the tires.

Good advice above.  The weakest point on these things right now will be the tranny.  Otherwise a great truck.
