New too the forum, thanks in advance for the the help. I recently ordered some fox 2.5, the extended travel for my 2016 Silverado. Got the cognito UCA’s too go with it. Confirmed with the guys at cognito the right part numbers too order from fox along with the stamped control arms I have for getting the new UCA’s. Took it too the shop here locally too be installed they give me a call saying I got shocks for 2wd they don’t fit. The guys doing the installation have a pretty good reputation and I believe one has the same setup on his truck. The part number I ordered form off road warehouse is 883-02-028. The part number stamped on the coilovers i recieved is 983-02-028. Contacted fox they did confirm its for a half ton Silverado but didn’t mention anything about it being for 2wd and 4wd. I got people telling me it doesn’t matter if it’s for 2wd or 4wd because they are the same and I got people telling me it does.  Also the coilovers I recieved didn’t have a backup  preload ring on them. Idk how important that is, seems too me maybe I got some older stock they wanted too get rid of.  Regardless, I would think if you pay 1400.00 for a pair of coilovers you would get exactly what you ordered. The guy at off road warehouse has been pretty helpful and is double checking the part number for me, I’m thinking fox shipped them directly to me. Thought I would get few more opinions on the whole situation. Thanks!

If you have the 2.5 factory series shocks there is no backup preload ring. There is a lock screw that clamps the adjustment nut. Sounds like the guys you have working on your truck don’t know what they’re talking about. If the issue is the cv shaft is hitting the shock then it is clocked the wrong way there is an offset to the lower mount and they need to re clock the lower mount. 6 months later I’m replacing my ball joints for the 2nd time also. . Hoping the cognitions would solve this problem but Guess I was wrong. Leaf springs are noisy as hell and got a clunking feeling in my footwell when going over bumps slow. Starting too wonder if I shoulda kept my 2001. Least it was paid off..

2 of those 3 are your own doing, maybe you should have wondered if leveling the truck was worth it, that isn't the trucks fault. 2001 could be doing the same thing... Clunking in the front and shot ball joints, you are modding a vehicle outside of stock parameters, stuff will fail sooner. The noisy leaf springs are somewhat normal, there was a TSB I believe to fix that. My truck had that issues at like 20k miles, the dealer did something to fix it and it has been quiet ever since even with multiple off road trips and I am at 65k now.

I’ve had leveling kits all my trucks before, just never had the ball joints go out this quick. . My friend actually has the 01. Same ball joints been running on the truck for 3 years now no problem. I’m  going too have them lower it half a inch in front too see if that helps. Maybe more. I’ll check with my dealer on the tsb. From what I been reading it’s just greasing them. For some it goes away and some it doesn’t. Maybe I’ll get lucky on that. I’m thinking the clunking in footwell could be cv now that my ball joints are fixed.
