Just found out that the door handle button locks the door but won't open ?????

Have a 2019 Tahoe only 12K miles that continues to have handle button issues. Have return to the service department 4 times only to hear "It's your problem" Chevrolet has "no Issues with any door buttons". Tahoe is back at the dealership again today, drivers button doesn't work. Now the service manager claims it's the antenna in the door not working? Claims Chevrolet knows about "some issues" but has no repair or knowledge of any issues. Ask that I come get the truck and keep using the FOB to lock and unlock the door. Anyone got the same issues or know the repair for this service group?

I have a 2019 gmc elevation that the doors will not unlock when the handle button is selected.   It worked yesterday.   Remote works fine locking and unlocking the doors

When select button all doors should unlock (passive door unlock setting)

If my key is in the same pocket as my phone the door handle buttons will not work. Switch the key to an empty pocket and works no problem. Just an FYI for you guys.

Thanks, although it’s not the problem.   This may be the result of me opening my truck windows with my remote and hitting several buttons before getting it right.  I’m not sure so I didn’t want to add it initially to add more confusion.

Yeah that's a temporary disable with a re-enable.  If you go into   Settings>Vehicle>Remote Lock, Unlock, and Start you can set what the buttons do under Passive Door Lock and Passive Door Unlock.  Mine is set to unlock only drivers door if pressed once on the drivers door button and unlock all doors if pressed twice.  Pressing any door handle button while unlocked with lock all doors.  I also have automatic locking enabled for 5 secs after closing all doors

I have mine set to open all door with push of the button on the handle as long as I have fob in my pocket.

Thanks to the person that stated to press the lock/unlock button on the remote at the same time to make the outside door lock buttons work again.  That did the trick!!!

P.S. Don’t buy a new generation GMC Sierra 2019+ unless U like recall after recall, leaking window, flooded floor and no available parts (carpet) and a transmission that shifts like a 1972 dodge power wagon.     If no service fault indicator It can’t be fixed.

Sorry, GM owner but what piece of ’*^*%!   Chevy is having similar issues but not as bad as GMC.  JDP Initially quality my ass.  Maybe the last 2-3 years of a generation after years of figuring it out.

Anyway, thanks for your help. I’m sure I’ll be using this site a lot or banded from it.

Can you say 5 weeks, that is how long my brand new truck has been at the dealer   Do you know what GM offered me for the BS I had to deal with, free Onstar for a couple months.   Really!!!!

I didn't see anything in the setting menu for door handle locks, but will double check again. Plus they worked before and I know I didn't change nothing on any setting

Settings - Vehicle- - Remote Lock, Unlock,Start - Passive Door Unlock

Nothing yet. I’m still within the warranty and soon will need an oil change. I’ll have them look at it then and post the “cure”

so have my truck in for this button problem. GMC is telling me that there is an antenna inside the door that

senses the fob, and that is what's wrong. They also said my drivers door window had been replaced since there was some shattered glass inside the door and whom ever replaced it did not replace an internal seal causing water to enter the door.

They think that's what caused the malfunction with the buttons on the driver's side. so they also have to order that seal but it's not covered under the warranty. Guess this is what happens when you buy a used vehicle (especially with low miles). Can't imagine that rain/water would have broken that antenna/feature in 13,400 miles!! When i pick the truck up i will question them more.

    • I’ve own several successful businesses. I’ve bought homes and lived in different states. I’d witness several generations buy homes and survive in different economic circumstances. You get awful sippy when people have different experiences than you do. You live a life. I’ve lived a life. It seems our experience has been different. You can point out generalized statistics. Some people learn how to thrive when the odds are against them. Living in different states does make a difference in a persons quality of life and economic outcomes and opportunities. That’s a fact Jack. It’s my truth, my life. Hard work and long hours the right environment made my families life easier. And yes moving to a different state increased the odds of that happening. Stats are generalized. People who thrive don’t make excuses. They beat the odds. Others get mad and point to those statistics. I guess that’s you. My post pointed out how you helped people beat the odds. Somehow your panties got in a wad. Go figure.
    • Good question, I don't remember for sure but I believe it was the HD. I will check and get back to you.
    • Point of the post sir was that while both wages and cost are rising EVERYWHERE; the cost is rising faster EVERYWHERE than the ability to buy EVERYWHERE. • Probably a one and done post, but do you have a CEL on the dash? Was having issues with my transmission, fortunately only a week, and it turned out to be the transmission harness. Valve body was in good shape, so new harness with all the sensors attached, new fluid, and filter. Seems to have worked so far?
    • Two interesting tidbits of information which are NOT related were just released.   One, regarding the possible thrust bearing issues / engine failures with the 3.0. Demonworks just did a segment in which they believe they may have found "a" or "the" cause of thrust bearing failures: A missing thrust bearing. If the engine doesn't have all its thrust bearings from the factory, the missing bearing can cause extra play which ends up destroying a nearby thrust bearing which then sends metal through the engine.       Of other importance, Lake Speed Jr released some interest information regarding oil weight selection for the 3.0. Comparisons of:   AcDelco 0w20 Dexos D Mobil 1 ESP x2 0w20 Dexos D Mobil 1 ESP x2 0w30 Mobil 1 ESP x4 0w40. Mobil Delvac 5w40   Spoiler alert: The Mobils are PAO Ester -base and the ACDelco is a Group III base. Mobil shows lower wear in their tests for similar weights. Additive packages between 20-30-40 weight ESP's appear to be the same, but only 0w20 is Dexos D licensed. Wear is even more reduced with 30 and 40 weight ESP although all perform very well and resist shear and provide very similar viscosities within temperature operating ranges in the 3.0.   There are even more surprises, so just go watch it.
