Adding alarm to keyless entry..

Hi all,

New to board, glad to meet you all. I have a 97 GMC Suburban SLT with keyless entry. I don't believe it has an alarm set up, as I have tried to hit the "lock" key on the fob twice..no horn sound. Would like to have at least the Factory Alarm set up on this vehicle. If I take it to the dealer could this be added or activated? I know I could go aftermarket alarm set up ..then that, I guess, would replace the stock keyless entry system. Just leery of the guys and the alarm install place going in and chopping up everything behind the dash to get "their" stuff in.

Has anyone had any luck with an after market set up that they have installed their self? I was thinking of the "UNGO BOX" system as I would like to keep this vehicle for as long as I can.

Also have the stock 235/75R15 rims on the burb..what is the largest 75 series, or widest I should say I can go to with these stock rims..and keeping somewhat the original height. If I would go to a 17 inch rim what would be the widest allowable tire to maintain the original heigth ratio? Thanks again for all the info in advance!

I like the viper setups..........

Very reliable and easy to install. Plus I think it would be cheaper then having the dealer install something.......

I own a AudioVox Prestige. Terrible. I actually think the alarm would be alright, but I let Car Toys install it for me  Only reason why I went with the AudioVox was because they didn't have the Alpine that I wanted. Alpines are nice. Not too expensive either.
