Remote 6 Disk CD Changer

Recommended Posts

I just bought a remote 6 disk changer (from a Denali) to replace my remote cassette deck on my 2002 Chev 1500HD. The plugins are the same. I took out the cassette deck and plugged in the changer, but I can't get the changer to play a CD. My deck keeps displaying error. The changer takes the disk in, then pushes it out. It does this 3 times and then stops. What am I missing?

Is the changer broken?

Do I need to reset the radio?

Do I need to reset the computer in my truck? How do I do that?

Do I need to take the truck to the dealer?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

My guess is that you need to go to the dealer and get the program updated to account for the changer. It seems that any and all electrical systems are tied into the onboard network, and requires a program upgrade, which of course is only available from the dealer. The bottom line is that the radio head is a computer. All it know is that the changer was not original equipment.

I would have thought that it would just plug in too. I also thought that the 2003 and newer trucks has the radio that need to be "reprogrammed" at the dealer. I'm curious as to how this turns out for I have been considering doing this exact same thing to my truck.
