imcgyver Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 Hello I have a 2008 Silverado 5.3 and want to replace my radiator fluid my question is since I am replacing my thermostat will that drain the block enough so I do not have to remove the block drain plug? Thank you for your time and response. Ron
davester Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 That should be fine. But still put a pan under the front of the engine, as there'll still be some fluid coming out of the various hoses and opening in the block. When I did my '04 Sierra 6.0, I just used a pan and disconnected the hoses from the water pump, to minimize the amount of coolant lost.
