Hello I have a 2008 Silverado 5.3 and want to replace my radiator fluid my question is since I am replacing my thermostat will that drain the block enough so I do not have to remove the block drain plug?

Thank you for your time and response. Ron

That should be fine.  But still put a pan under the front of the engine, as there'll still be some fluid coming out of the various hoses and opening in the block.

When I did my '04 Sierra 6.0, I just used a pan and disconnected the hoses from the water pump, to minimize the amount of coolant lost.
