check trailer wiring

my 2018 GMC 1500 keeps saying  Check Trailer Wiring  then the trailer brakes quit 

says Trailer connecter then Says Check Trailer Wiring  back and fort no regularity 

put new 7 pin plug on truck at GMC dealer they said it was wet   same problem

I put new connecter on trailer same problem 

I connected separate ground from trailer to truck

still does the same thing 

 

anybody had this problem ?

Vaseline pack that connector when not in use.
But I would clean it out then meter it.

Check the trailer brake wiring on the trailer and check the brakes. 

 

Also, what brand plug did you put on the trailer? GM has a TSB about this and they recommend using a Pollak trailer plug.

if your trailer has a break away battery check to make sure it is good
