im always seeing a barcode sticker usually on the rear pass windows

of different types of vechs but mainly GM trucks. does this have any use

or is it just something the factory used durring assembly?

I don't know, but I always thought some of them we for people that live in gated communities...I see a lot of cars down here in FL, and I thought that they opened the gates.

I think tmf is right on with his answer... The bar codes are read by a scanner on gated communities to let you in without having to stop at the gaurd shack.

 

I'm guessing that you are seeing more of them on trucks than cars/vans, because you are like the rest of here!!! We tend to notice trucks all the time... the other vehicles are just a nusciance that tend to get in our way!!! LOL!!!

There are quite a few reasons. Often times they are used for parking or entering gated communities as said before. They are also placed on some rental cars I assume for keeping inventory.
