The GM Accessory Assist Steps available on 2014-2019 Silverado, Sierra; and 2015-2019 Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Colorado and Canyon models help make it easier to get in and out of the vehicle. Installation of the Assist Steps requires using the included brackets and mounting hardware and securing to the vehicle underbody. (Fig. 14) Here are a few tips to ensure a successful installation.

Really wish they would just mount these to the body mounts and be done with it. Mounting to the rockers is just asking for trouble down the road...

You can't mount them to the body mounts because it will transmit vibrations right threw the steps into the cab. The cheap crappy after market ones  mount like that and usually have problems. Can't tell you how many times they come in with unusual noises caused by shitty aftermarket accessories or shoddy installation and we spend time looking for the problem and don't get paid  a dime for it. When you try to charge the customer he has a shit fit and your a thief.

Had my last ones for 6 years with no problems and these pieces of shit on my truck will be off as some as I can find ones that mount to the body mounts that I like. The rockers are the first thing to start rusting on the vehicles in my area and 200+ pound dudes stepping on them aren't going to help when they start to weaken because of rust. I'll never be convinced that this is a better way. The body mounts are rubber which dampen vibrations. Where the factory ones mount straight to the unibody of the cab with nothing to dampen any supposed vibrations.

Thank the price GM slaps one these is complete nonsense. $700+ for painted steel boards that rust faster than the rocker panels. What a joke. You can buy full stainless for ⅓ of that price aftermarket.
