I have a 08 GMC Yukon V8 SLT.  A couple of months ago I went over a water puddle going about 55 and when the water splashed under my truck it turned off.  I waited about 15 minutes and it started right up and there was no other issue.  A few days ago I was going down a dirt road and I came to a very soggy, muddy portion and when I drove over it my truck turned  off.  I tried it several times and it did not start up again until I was out of the mud.  Once it completely dried out it was running fine again.  was told that it could be the fuel pump. fuel pump module or starter.  I spoke with a man at an auto parts store and he told me not to change anything because it was probably a bad wire.  Please help me~

To be honest with you, there are literally 1,000 things that could cause this, in addition to the fuel pump. CAN lines could be shorting, crank sensor could be pulled to ground, short circuit in the ignition, or fuel injectors, just to name a couple off the top of my head.

Only way you're going to nail this one, is if you have someone with GREAT diagnostic skills along with you the next time it dies. They'll need to figure out what it's losing - spark, or fuel, then from there chase down whether it's an input problem, or communication (CAN) problem.

Yup on above post,at least it's water related,I would use a garden hose and spray certain areas at a time, process of elimination
