elk_hunter Posted September 26, 2003 Posted September 26, 2003 Hi all, I have a 99 GMC sierra ext cab truck. The drivers side headlight unit somehow got a crack on the benzel in the back, so it wont stay in place while driving and etc. I'm heading out to see if i can find one at a junk yard in town, What yr's would fit beside the 99(its the new body style) and also would a chevy light benzel fit in a gmc? thanks!!
MattDewalt Posted September 26, 2003 Posted September 26, 2003 My parts database says 99-03 for the GMC lamps. A Chevy lamp will not work because the contours around the grilles are different. The junk yard should be able to tell what years/models interchange also. Alot of the used parts we order are from different years/models of vehicles than what I need parts for.
seadoons Posted September 26, 2003 Posted September 26, 2003 You should also look for 99-03 GMC Suburbans, Yukons, and Yukon XL models. The GMC suburban name was changed to Yukon XL at some point, not sure when though. Let us know if you had any luck.
vortec4800 Posted September 26, 2003 Posted September 26, 2003 If you've got a few hundred bucks burnin' a hole in your pocket and you want some added style, Denali headlamps from any of the new body style trucks/suvs will also fit - and they look great with the standard GMC front end (better than with the Denali front IMO)
2000 GMC Posted September 27, 2003 Posted September 27, 2003 I have the same problem. Mine are being held with JB Weld, great stuff! I found a guy in town that can order me a GM headlight assembly for $159. Great part is, no shipping charges. I'm going to ask about the Denali assemblies tomorrow. If they are going to cost much more than that, I'm sticking with the regular Sierra assemblies.
