Exactly.  Which is why it's so frustrating to be given the "option" to build your own truck yet you can't actually build your own truck...

unless you literally build your own truck.. buying a WT and swapping out the radio, seats, purchasing additional wiring harnesses , etc. so you can go in and re-wire the cab for what you actually want.

My Tahoe Z71 from 2000 was an awesome truck, i'd love to have the option to add a sunroof & upgrade the stereo from the base package that vehicle had..

came with leather (and seat warmers)

came with towing package

4x4 (duh)

heated and auto dimming mirrors

now, to get a sunroof, you'd need to purchase an LTZ or SLE / Denali I believe..

If I have to do it myself then why bother giving me the false option of having GM build it the way they think I want it?  Also I'm one of those that sees the sunroof as pointless and since I seem to be in the minority finding my next vehicle that doesn't have one will yet again add to my needle in the haystack search.

Nobody gives a damn about the drivers safety. They sell what sells.

Nobody seems interested in auto-adjusting head lights. Therefore, you still can't get it in a truck, where it would actually make sense.

I’ve noticed since 2011 that when you’re going uphill people think you have your highs on. I’ve adjusted my headlights down on some of my vehicles to eliminate the flashing as much as possible. This is on cars too. When people come towards me coming up hill if there running (fog) lights are on usually that means they’re on low beams. It sucks having to drive at night with one hand on the high beam switch.

I was more referring to headlights that adjust to the rear squat of the truck when loaded.

But you're right, the blinding headlights of a loaded truck are even worse on hills.

They're also slow to implement the corner following headlights too.  TFL just did a video on the half tons and their safety rating.  Only dodge has the cornering lights so they got the highest over all among the 5 half tons.  Apparently the govt now includes headlights in their safety testing.  Think they started that a year or two ago.

This one could be interesting.

Attitudes about driving have created a problems technology THINKS it can fix. That's just a fact. Another fact is Technology can't fix a human attitude so I guess this is as good as it can get but, it WILL create more problems as people get comfortable RELYING on this technology to do what they ought be doing it the first place. The higher and more secure the fence the closer people like to stand to the cliffs edge. That sir is human nature.

When people found out they could build a car that would circle Indy well over 200 mph and survive the crash...we had more and more violent crashes so.....they restricted the cars ability to do what the driver was inclined to want to do. Be stupid and self absorbed and engage in high risk behavior. Several times and they are not done yet.

I love the back up camera in my wife's Terrain. Know what I would like better? A car I can see out of behind me. Love the forward crash braking. Don't love the fact a dark shadow crossing the road sets it off at 70 mph. Scared the crap out of her and nearly got her rear ended by????? A self absorbed stupid driver that thought his 70 mph was faster if he was so close as to draw the "Failure to stop in an assured clear distance' ticket.

Forward crash assistance does improve your response time and the other controls improve you stopping distance and stability. Granted, no argument. But it can't stop you from following at a distance that defies the physics...like 70 mph at 50 feet following distance. System will work and you WILL crash anyway.

Problems with studies like this include but walmart one are not limited to.....the fact it's a controlled environment. You set a control and somebody will find a way to exceed that control. Heck EVERYBODY will.

awesome. Bump!

    • Ok I missed that part that yours is a GM. The strange part is that the choice for year ranges and within the year of 2026 is different on the Sierra then on the Chev for some reason as I am looking at my tool at the Sierra choices. Now I am guessing you see as to your sensor part number as it may be different on your truck for some reason and a call to GM should get you the part model number of the sensors you should have as well as which MHz your sensors are. I know mine are the ones as per what I listed but there are other choices in the Autel and got me wondering if by some chance they put different ones in your truck. Having said that, did you try using each of the choices starting from No 1 and going on down the list, not sure if that would mean shutting off the engine each time and resetting the tool and going at it again each time. Also I thought of something else which may sound retarded but if there was some stupid chance that the chev choice would work. The reason I say that is that the Sierra is showing a range up to 06/2026 for the various choices of sensors it could be where as the Chev has one choice that has that 12/2026. By the way it is possible to not run the truck and you may know that as per not pressing the brake but pressing and holding the start button for a few seconds and it lights up the dash ( its called service mode ) but that sucks battery power and if it were me doing it that way I would be throwing on a decent sized battery charger before doing it that way as killing your battery won't make you happy at me at all !.    Like I say, just a thought to try the Chev choices if you have already exhausted the Sierra choices but first it would be nice to know for sure what exact sensor model and hertz your truck uses as I assume only those choices that mention the sensor would work unless a choice that does not mention the sensor model would somehow work. Its frustrating when one is trying to use tools like this without the experience of the tool and the vehicle, as I am sure dealer techs themselves struggle with it when starting out or a new model year comes along that is slightly different.
    • I tried before I updated the scan tool just incase an update messed it up, but it never worked so I updated the scan tool and it still didn't work.   Only difference is I click on Sierra not Chevrolet cause I have a Sierra.   If I click on 2026-2024 I didn't have any option to change placard, when I click on 2023 it does give me the option but when I try to do it,.it says vehicle not supported!   I have my region or market or whatever it is set to America I think, is that what yours is set to?
    • Its just that it worked on 2024 trucks on this forum and my 2025 model truck, unless GM did something since that point to screw up access or Autel has a bad update. I haven't had need to use my tool since last year when I did the changes to the placard pressure settings and since then I updated the software on my Autel but have not plugged into the OBD so hard to say if I would get a surprise as well.    All I know last year when I bought the Autel I was warned to be sure to update it before I tried using the unit as they said who knows how long ago unit itself was actually manufactured as the software could be way out of date.
    • And so you had gone through the process of registering and updating the tool and so on ?. All I can say is that on the front page as the tool fires up you go to advanced mode, then vehicle model comes up and you choose Silverado ( not the DRW or EV  since your a single rear wheel ) , then I think its choice 2 which is 07/2021 - 12/2026 ( 433mhz 13542523 ) as that is the series of tpms sensors and then go down to choice 5 which is tire type/pressure selection. Hit yes and it says to connect to OBD port and turn ignition on.    Having said this, I updated the software in my tool lately and these year range choices look different from the past due to them doing some updates it would appear and I have not connected up to the OBD port since last year so hopefully I am not in for a surprise with them screwing up the software and that it won't work on my truck anymore either.    So my question is, when you plugged into the OBD and started your truck it had that message on the Autel screen "vehicle not supported" ?. That does seem odd as tire shops would be pissed right off if hey can't use their tool on the model year after mine that in theory is supposed to be much the same truck ... unless GM did some change in the computer system to block certain things from access.
    • Understanding and using modern scan tools is its own body of knowledge. I had little hope that would work...programming access to the BCM is probably required and that is not easy for us consumers. Expensive scan tool, GM programming subscription, online authentication, etc.   It also may be a matter of finding the right dealer to program it for you. Flashing a modern BCM might be a little too advanced for most tire shops.
