What is the fuse needed to add on the HD to be able to charge the trailer battery and get 12V trailer lights? Bought the truck used and it did not have it. Thanks

If my memory serves me right, the trucks(2003) equipped with the Dmax and trucks equipped with dual batteries already have the fuse installed right from the factory, if not I believe it is the fuse for (post 1) 2001-2002. Hope this helps.

Hmm... all i know is there is nothing in post 1 and the 12v lights and the battery wont charge with this truck. What amp fuse is it?

40 Amp...

Takes a special fuse too- Buss FLS/PAL style, Napa # 782-2044

There's a red plastic insert in the STUD #1 location. Insert the fuse there, and your battery will charge.

The fuse is NOT factory installed.

The fuse wasn't in my 2003 either. I bought a trailer jumper wire because there wasn't one in the truck from the factory (they quit giving them to you) and the parts guy said the wire jumper was different between the 1999-2002 and the 2003. There was a fuse with the jumper wire harness.

Turns out it would have been easy to modify the one I had, just switching two pins. I had given the guy who bought my 2001 Silverado the one out of my Tahoe and I wanted one to put back in the Tahoe anyway. But since they were wired different, I put the one from my controller back in the Tahoe and hooked the new jumper wire to the controller for my 2003 Silverado.
