Hello y'all,

I've been a lurker for a little while, but finally had a need to make an account and post a question. I bought a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 last month and have had the usual "new to you" bug fixes.

Anyway, I have had an issue the past week with the temperature gauge either not moving from start-up or dropping to the bottom in the middle of a trip. Once it shows the needle at the bottom, the cooling fan kicks into high gear and won't turn off (even after the ignition is turned off) until either I unhook the battery terminal (doing this keeps it from happening for at least a day or two) or, if it is cold enough outside (<40*), it will turn off on its own about 3 minutes after the engine is turned off. Coolant level and #12 and 13 fuses are fine as well. I ordered two new relays, but cannot find where the cooling fan relay is located. Anyone have any idea on straightening this out? Thanks!

This will seem weird, but check the pressure on your AC system via the low side port.  If it is overcharged the truck fans will run high speed because it thinks the AC system is overheated.  Happened to me after I recharged my AC and added too much which raised the pressure above the safe level.  Soon as pressure normalized, fans went back to normal.

Had this happen to me last month. Fixed it by disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes to reset everything.

I am having the same issue with my 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT. Temp gauge will not read anything and the fan will kick on full blast after shutoff which in turn killed the battery. No other problems seem to be occurring. Wondering if there were any solutions found?

I’m taking my truck into the dealer for 3 recalls, leaking roof, same temp gauge/fan issue (been dealing with it for months) I’ve noticed the truck is now running colder so thinking thermastat and the classic service 4wd (unable to clear codes) will post a follow up once I know what’s up with the fan/temp issue

Anyone with this problem needs to change out their thermostat. Super easy there’s a couple YouTube videos on it. Iv done it twice as the first autozone T stat failed.
