2006 GMC Yukon 5.3L oil pressure switch voltage high

I have a 2006 GMC Yukon the I got a code that said p0523 I changed the oil pressure switch and I’m still getting the code 

when I drive the oil pressure gauge will jump to 80psi then back to normal and some times it will drop to 0psi then back to normal what could be the problem?

That’s what I was thinking but I had a mechanic just tell me it could be the oil pump but from my knowledge a bad oil pump won’t gain oil pressure it will lose oil pressure slowly or completely

I'd look at the connector/wiring too.

Well, it is possibly the oil pump.  But before replacing it, hook up a mechanical gauge in place of the oil pressure sensor and monitor the oil pressure that way for a bit to see what it actually is.

 

Then you'll know if it's an oil pressure problem in the engine or a sensor/wire/electrical/computer problem.

Ok so I found out it’s definitely electrical when I turn the key (with out turning on the car) the oil gauge pegs out to 80psi with out the truck on so now idk where to even start I’m probably going to take it to a electrician shop but I know they get expensive quick
