Rear window defroster

I have a 2018 gmc 1500 and just got the recall fixed on the rear window defroster. Now I notice the switch never turns off as I am use to with all my other vehicles. My question is should this turn off automatically?

Are you in Canada? I think the fix is just removing the fuse for it.

 

If there is no "juice" going back to the window, there is nothing to tell the switch to turn off when the 10 minute time cycle is up.
