Quadrasteer Availability?

Recommended Posts

If my son sells his s-10 and buys my Av while home on leave, I'll have to buy something quickly. I'll either get a Cadillac CTS, LT extended cab quadrasteer pickup, or Sierra Denali. (I know, apples and oranges.) My question is: How available are non-Denali 4ws pickups? I found only 1 locally on gmbuypower. I may have no choice but to opt for the Denali (not that I'm complaining except for the price) in order to locate an available unit.

I'm not sure if there will be a big price difference in the Chevy vs. Denali 4ws trucks the denali is the same as a LT silverado but comes with all options standard. As far as finding a local 4ws truck that would be up to the dealer I know mine looked out to 500 miles for the heck of it. I think they have limitations because of shipping costs to do a swap.

Actually the Sierra Denali comes with much more than the loaded.Silverado. With the Sierra Denali package you get the 325HP 6.0 and the 4L65E tranny, the same tranny that comes in the Vette. Those alone are worth the price! You also get the AWD which is awesome in the rain, ice and snow. You also get the elecrtonic adjustable shocks and an interior like comes in the Caddy trucks. The Sierra Denali even come with a different frame, and larger brakes. The list goes on and on.

Here we go, the Denali does not have a different frame it is the same frame as a 1500, as it is a 1500. the adjustable shock are packaged with 4ws some they come on all 4ws models the transmission on the Denali is the 4L60E heavy duty, the corvette tranny, according to GM powertrain is the standard transmission for all 1500 models so everyone has a corvette tranny. Yes the interior is slightly similiar to a caddy with the two tone seats but unfortunately the Denali is only available with the cassette/CD combo the silverado comes standard with a 6 disc CD which comes in handy since cassettes went out about 10 years ago. And the list goes on and on.

YES HERE WE GO! sounds to me you don't really know all that much about the Denail! in the first place yes it has 4L65E TRANS. And yes 6 DISC CHANGER! and one disc player IN the XM equiped radio making it 7 discs. ARE 17" WHEELS STANDARD Chev? S'ok tho cause since July I have put 8500 miles towing a 7k # 5th wheel with mine and yes Montana,Wyoming and the other direction W.Va. Md. Va. and with 1020# hitch weight I know my Denali is very capable. then there is Q-steer to compilment all other ammenities :D

AUTOMATIC 4-SPEED w/OVERDRIVE 4L60E HD

RPO Code M32

That is the standard transmission in a Denali- not a 65. Yes the Denali also comes with a 6 disc changer BUT the changer unit is seperate from the dash unit which has a cass/ CD head. This unit is an - $200 option on the LT's which come standard with the 6 disc unit. 17" wheels do not regulate towing performance you can have a vehicle with 30" wheels the important part is LT tires an option Denali's do not have. I'm glad your truck does what you want it to do but the Denali is not the end all and tow monster it's toted to be.

For the 2003 lineup......the trannys were supposed to have changed from the 4L60E to the 4L65E and the 4L80E to 4L85E.

I don't recall it being a performance thang, that one model over another got what other than being 1500 or 2500 above.

Dave J is correct and you are wrong. The 2001 GMC C3 was the first truck application to use the Vette tranny, then called the 4L60E-HD. In 2002 they renamed it the 4L65E and it comes standard in ALL Sierra Denali's and the Chevy SS too. It is exactly the same as the performance tranny used in the Vette's, with many HD and performance enhancements. here's a link to a GM site if you don't believe us. http://media.gm.com/division/gmc/products/.../sierra_ld.html

The frame in the Sierra Denali is unique to the Sierra Denali. It is defined by the 6th diget in the VIN as described below.

What do the seventeen digits of a vehicle’s VIN represent?

#1 Country Manufactured - The first character vehicle identification number (VIN) serial number identifies the country from which the vehicle was manufactured: U.S.A.(1 or 4), Canada (2), Mexico (3).

#2 Manufacturer - Second vehicle identification number digit specifies the manufacturer: General Motors (G).

#3 Vehicle Type - Third vehicle identification number digit indicates the vehicle type or manufacturing division: (GMC).

#4 - 8 Vehicle Features - Fourth through eighth vehicle identification number digit reveals the vehicle features such as body style, frame type, engine type, model, series, etc.

#9 Accuracy Check Digit - The ninth vehicle identification number digit is a VIN accuracy check digit, verifying the previous VIN numbers.

#10 Model Year - Tenth vehicle identification number digit tells the model year: 2001(1), 2002 (2), 2003 (3).

#11 Production Plant - Eleventh vehicle identification number digit reveals the assembly plant for the vehicle.

#12 - #17 Sequential Number – The twelfth to seventeenth vehicle identification number digits indicate the sequence of the vehicle for production as it rolled of the manufacturer’s assembly line.

A 2002 Sierra Denali will have a VIN like this: 2GTFK69U621000000
