CrazyboutCamaro Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 Hey all. New to the forum. I have a 2015 silverado 1500 ltz. I had the radiator replaced for a slight leak on the plastic and metal meeting point less than a year ago. My truck was under warranty still and it's no longer now at 58.6k miles I'm not sure if they replaced the thermostat for the cycling issue after I look back at the repair bill. Is it an easy radiator replacement on these trucks? Im not shy at working on my own stuff. I have friends who own a shop so I can work on it there if needed. The issue: I have droplets of radiator fluid on the snow under the truck. And I see steam coming from the grill every now and then. I thought this was water but the anti freeze droplets confirmed its not water making it do that. I don't really smell any antifreeze so I'm assuming it's dropping from a small leak. Any help is much appreciated.
CamGTP Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 Yeah, replacement is simple. I have my complete fan assembly out in maybe 10-15min, then the rest is just disconnecting the trans/oil cooler lines and coolant hoses. Shouldn't take much time after that to remove the rad itself.
Bash74 Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 It still has a warranty. Not the bumper to bumper but that specific gm part. We have had vehicles come back with the same part failing that we fixed during B2B and it's fixed again for free even if B2B has ran out within a certain time and mileage. It's just billed to GM a different way. This happened with the condenser issue. Sent from my SM-A505U using Tapatalk
CrazyboutCamaro Posted January 25, 2020 Author Posted January 25, 2020 Gotcha, thank you for the help! I will check it out again. It's weird, does steam often happen on these rucks from water splashing the radiatior or other components? It doesn't smoke when it's dry but when the rain or snow hits this thing is smoking from the front a good amount. Thanks.
