Does this annoy anyone else?

Hearing people say "Back in the day..." when refering to something years ago?  I don't know why it does me, unless it's because I hear people saying it around town/work/tv/radio about 100 times a day.

Damn, I'm only 20 years old and at times I talk like that.  I bet you would most likely go nuts spending anytime around me.

Yes we would, but it wouldn't be for that reason.  :) j\k

JP, "Back in the day" is one of my catch phrases at times as well.  Can get some interesting looks pulling that one out and being 27...but it's a whole new ballgame now compared to when I was a wee easily amused child of the 80's, happy to head over to Kiddie City or Children's Palace(Anyone, anyone?) with my allowance for my latest GI Joe to add to the collection.

It's not the phrase that annoys me, it's hearing everyone saying it.  I swear, I honestly hear it 30-40 times a day.  (100 was stretching it a little ;) )  One of my friends kids, who's about 10-11 said it the other day.  I told her, what do you mean "back in the day", your still "in the day".

I know what you mean. I hear it from 23 year old flight students. I tell them, "You haven't had "The Day" yet. Log 5000 flight hours, miss a dozen Christmases, birthdays and anniversaries. Then we'll talk about it."

I follow what you are saying now, and agree.  It isn't the phrase, it is the context in which it is used.  I refuse to use those trendy phrases that many other people use when they talk since it is "cool."

I can remember when little things like this didn't bother easy going Tom, but that was Back In The Day.
