2016 Silverado wifi options? Tips/ tricks?

My 2016 Silverado has a very hard time connecting to Pandora, ONLY off the built in "infotainment" APP.

I currently do not have 4g LTE WIFI in the truck, and every time i hit the Pandora app on the info screen I assume it connects to my phone so I assume Pandora is playing off my phones connection ?

Can some confirm if I had WIFI in my truck it would play from the trucks own WIFI signal and save my phones battery?

 

When I plug my phone into the USB in center console I can then use Android Auto, and Pandora launches flawlessly through that.

 

I'm open to other options for wifi in my truck? I have Verizon cell phone service, so wanted to use the Hotspot off my phone, but not sure how to connect my truck to my phones hotspot...

Also though about using an old Android phone plugged into the center console USB connection and having that off my current phones hotspot signal....(so connect old phone to new phones hotspot WIFI signal, use old phone only for Android Auto. )

 

*I also have a 2018 Camaro SS and when i launch Pandora in that car it plays off its own WIFI and infotainment  app. So essentially No phone is required...
