charging question

2019 silverado 5.3 charging below 14 when checked with a meter charging at 11.9 with a static battery charge of 12.6 is this normal operation?

there are no lights on in the dash and no DTCs are come up. another odd situation ,I park the truck under a car port and when i turn it on the gauge reads 14

because the lights are in auto mode and are on but when i pull it out into the light the automatic headlamps will turn off and the gauge falls to 12 , if i turn the headlights on no change occurs in the gauge. i can trick the system if i turn on the truck and in the few seconds while the gauge settles in to the 14 range

i turn the lights on manually and the gauge stays. use to seeing a stable voltage reading in other vehicles. should i be concerned and does this point to true charging issue?

You're good. It's all computer controlled. Charging and output will vary according to conditions. As long as it's in the normal lines no worries.

OK thanks i just don't honestly remember it fluctuating that much . do you know why i can't get the gauge to move if i manually turn the lights on during start up then turn them to auto the gauge will fall to the low position which would make a little sense but when i turn the light back on and load the system totally radio ac interior lights it doesn't pop up to 14 at that point
