'06 2500HD 4x4 trans filter removal

Can't find anything on utube. Seems as though cross member will need to be removed to get to bolts on back of trans pan. Am I wrong? Any help is appreciated!

Nope. You can do it without removing the X member. Need a shorty wrench and its a bit tight for 2 screws.

I ALWAYS Re-USE the factory seal. Its thick rubber and has metal inside. This is far superior to a folded up paper gasket

and needs no sealer.

I like to put on a much larger trans cooler too out front, fairly easy as well.

 Good luck !

You can also remove the transmission mount bolts and stick a jack with a block of wood under the transfer case, then jack the whole thing up an inch or two to give you more room.

Got under there and found a broken trans mount. Go figure. All good. And truck still shifts. Hahaha. 178,000miles
