greetings!  I have a 97 gm 1500 extended cab. 2wd with a 350.  having gauge issues.  replaced speed sensor.  seemed to go ok and then happened all over again.  fuses are good.  any suggestions?  also is it ok to drive as I need and can't afford mech at this time.

Not following exactly what your problem is here. Do you have a speedometer issue, or ALL gauges are an issue? You'll need a scan tool to verify whether or not your replaced sensor is operating correctly. This should've been done before replacing it - my bet is, it never needed one.

Keep in mind, these years were notorious for stepper motor failures in the cluster.

No harm in driving, unless you have low or no oil pressure.

thank you.  just an issue with the rpm and speedo. check gauge light comes on and both gauges stop working.  feels like tranny slips a bit.  all else is good.

I'd get a scan tool on there and do the "sweep" test. If the tach and RPM flake out during this test, you've found the problem. Two bad stepper motors. If you're going to do the repair yourself, do ALL of the motors, because the others will be failing any day now.

Plenty of companies out there that sell stepper motor kits. A Google search should turn up many. Just read the reviews and find out which ones are good.
