99 burban shifter problem

while replacing my transfer case assembly i didnt disconnect the battery,  put the column shift in Neutral, and disconnected the shift cable arm from the 4L60e at the shaft with crescent wrench holding the armature and 15mm to remove the nut/ put the shift at the column in park and took the keys in for the night.. siphoned out the transmission fluid into a clean jug.. completed transfer case installation and put the electrical connectors on, put key in and put column indicator in neutral, reconnected shifter armature same as it was removed or so I thought..  seems to fall a bit short of shifting down into 2 or 1 on the column.and a bit more to go from what the column says is park, into actual park to get the key out. What will be the remedy before i fill it up or attempt to start the engine ?

Thinks i might have found my own answer at autozone link/ the arm was on backwards/ works just fine now SMH
