2016 silverado Z71 LT Crew Cab 4WD 5.3L fuel tank

Recently bought a 2016 silverado Z71 LT Crew Cab 4WD Short Box 5.3L. Filled it up today and only put 22 Gallons in. I know it has a 26 Gallon tank. The "Low Fuel" light came on, so I know it was time to fill up. The nozzle never stopped when filling up except when it was full and the gauge reads full inside. Is it like the Honda civics fuel system where the "Low Fuel " light comes on and it only takes 9.5 gallons when its 12.4 gallon tank, meaning it has 3 gallons in reserve? Is that the way the silverados are?

Usually at the low fuel light I get 22-24 gallons depending on remaining range.  So at 60-70 miles remaining, it will take 22 gallons, at 50-40 miles range, 23-24 gallons.  If the DIC says "LOW" for estimated range, expect there to be 2 gallons or less in the tank.
