I have a set of Rhino Ramps with 3,000lb capacity per ramp or 6,000lb capacity per pair.  At times, I'd like to raise the front of the truck enough to get under it on a creeper without brushing my chest on the undercarriage.  I'm thinking that each front wheel would carry less than 3,000lbs per ramp.  That the rear tires would probably carry about a third of the weight of the truck, 8,150lbs total in my case.  Do you think I'd be cutting it too close to the limit to get under the truck with these ramps or should I go to a ramp with a higher load carrying capacity?

The sure way would be to scale your truck.  My 09 dually comes out to 4240 on the front axle and 3700 on the rear one.  The new trucks are quite a bit heavier than mine is.  You can also look on your door sticker it'll tell you the axle weight ratings and if you're stock and empty it's a good bet you're not at the front axle max.  You'll probably be fine but you asked :)

I think you would be cutting it close - not worth the risk.  Why not just jack it up?  There are very large and easily accessible lift points just behind the front wheels.  You need some taller jack stands after it is up, though.

They make a set rated at 16k lbs also,  I dont have any experience with either though. You can always put jack stands under the lift points once its on the ramps.

You bring up a really good point that I haven't thought of yet. I think my steel ramps are rated for 6500 lbs. Granted I haven't even been underneath the new truck yet, but will be pretty soon. I might just jack it up and use the big jack stands that I have.
