Something caught on fire?.... but what?

2020 Chevrolet Silverado Custom, 2wd. 4.3 V6. @4000 miles

It had been raining pretty heavily in Florida the past couple days. Got in the truck yesterday and started it up, noticed a little bit of a funny smell. At the same time my wife opened up the passenger door and there was a large puff/cloud of smoke. Don't know if it was from in the truck (door area) or from under the truck. Then it went away. Almost smelled like electrical burning. Everything seems to be working ok, no warning lights, etc... I'm going to be making an appointment to have it checked at dealership, but probably won't be for another week. Any thoughts, or has this happened to anyone else? Not a good sign from a new vehicle in my opinion.

I wouldnt waste the time with a dealership visit ...  if they cant see it or reproduce it, they're not going to do anything.

Worse yet, you may get a bill for "inspecting" it.

It's a 2020 and i would think still under the 3/36 so it wont cost him anything to get looked at. And if he seen a cloud of smoke and smelled electrics burning it will most likely be visible to any tech looking for issues.

Man I know ...  but one time I had a noise in the front end and the dealer told me if they could not identify it for warranty, I'd have to pay $150 to look at it.  Very common these days.

Yeah my dealer has pulled that on me too, though it was for me with a extended warranty and not the original manufacture 3/36 one. In any case, any service manager or writer worth their salt will take a issue of potential fire seriously i would hope. I know the 4 cylinder motors had harness issues, not sure about the 4.3 6 cylinders though.
