Fog Lights Switch

Recommended Posts

My fog lights won't turn on anymore. I metered them at the battery and I don't get any power. The dealer thinks its the BCM, but didn't check it all the way. He suggested a aftermarket switch to control them.

Anyone have a similiar problem? I am also looking for a replacement switch for the internal console. I poked a hole in mine when I got mad :-( Are there replacement switches available?

If you are under factory warranty, then that dealer can cry a friggin river, and fix them the RIGHT way. What in the world makes them think they can cheese the correct way to fix it. Find a new dealer. :shakehead:

The dealer can check the BCM easily.

In fact if you install factory foglights on a truck that didn't have them originally, then you have to take your truck to the dealer so he can "flash" the BCM so the lights become operational.

Just want to add that I heard that no dealer is obligated to honor any factory warranty they don't have to fix it if they don't want to. But if they are the kind of dealership that cares about customers then they will fix it if it falls under the warranty :jester:

Woah, that is the first I've heard of that. Guess I'm pretty lucky here in the midwest where people still like to do "the right thing" (at least for the most part). One thing for sure, if I ever do encounter a dealer like that, they will no longer be my dealer.

My fog lights failed to operate once this past summer. Dealer blamed it on the remote car starter and could not find the problem. Remote car starter people found a blown fuse that was not related to the car starter and showed me the fuse location at the end of the dash (drivers side). I'm not sure what the real deal was, but it hasn't been a problem since. I'm not sure why there is a ton of fuses under the hood and a 1/2 ton more in the cab!! Anyways, I felt stupid because I checked the "under the hood" fuses and then went to the dealer without checking the other fuses.
