Hi,

I have a 1990 GMC Sierra 5.7, 4x4. It has a 4L60 transmission in it. It will not shift to anything past 1st gear. I changed the fluid and filter, it was brown with some small shavings in it. Not too bad. What would be some main things to look at in order to get it shifting out of 1st.

Replace it. Brown fluid and metal shavings aren't good.
