Bagging 101

Recommended Posts

Hi, im new to the forum. Im looking into getting a 98 or 99 silverado, and im definitely looking into bagging it. I want my truck to be low, but not rediculous (as in cutting out a hole in the bed for the diff to drop into, and dragging frame)

Basically i want it to be low enough so with some 20's or 22's i can get the rear rim to tuck into its wheel well. I still want the truck to be a very functional daily driver.

Ive always that Air Ride Technologies seemed like a good company, so ive been looking at their products. What do you guys think of the Air Bar bolt on 4 link for the back, and the Cool Ride in the front? Do i need to get some Drop Spindles if i do this so i dont get excessive wheel angle? Also is a kit like the one Air Ride provides too hard to install at home with a decent knowledge of suspensions?

Please give me any info u think will help. Also if you know of any websites with someones step by step install please tell me, or any helpful website at all.

Thanks,

Greg

Air Bar = blah Air 4link = :uhoh:

You're not gonna come close to tucking a 22" rim in the back without cutting out the fenders and making them higher and cutting out room in the bed and having a step notch and cover.

20's will still be close but you'll have a few more inches to play with.

The cool ride for the front is beautiful.. it's what I'm going with w/ the tubular control arms and Belltech Drop spindles so I'll be able to lay frame.

If you get the cool ride with normal control arms you'll have to cut a notch out for the bag not to rub... but the tubular control arms prevent this.

if you get a new body style silverado, you do not need tubular a-arms or drop spindles to lay frame. I'm running an AirRide Tech. coolride kit up front with stock a-arms and spindles, and i lay frame and have no bag rubbing issues at all. Not even close to rubbing.

you got amazing lucky on not rubbing.. the instructions on air-rides site even say to notch the frame on the front. I'll probably still get the tubular arm tho just because they look cooler and I can powder coat them

Buy a 98. Those body styles seem to tuck rim more easily. I haven't heard of many people bagging a truck to not have it lay frame, but hey, it's still cool. However, check out www.ifcustom.com because they make an under the bed notch that I believe will still allow you to lay frame. While you're there, check out the 02 that they bagged and body dropped on 24's. It's the black one with the Escalade front end.
