OK, this may seem like a silly question, but how do you play "all" music on a USB key after telling to play an artist or song?

For example, if I say "Play song Hotel California" it will play Hotel California, and nothing else. Hitting next just plays Hotel California again.

The same thing happens if I say "Play artist Eagles", it will only play the Eagles. How do you get out of that and get back to shuffling all songs on the USB key?

TIA!

“Play <device name>” : Play music from a specific device identified by name.

The device name is the name displayed when the device is first selected as an audio source.

There is a bunch of options for the "play <    >" command.

“Play Artist” : Begin a dialog to enter a specific artist name.
“Play Artist <artist name>” : Begin playback of a specific artist.
“Play Album” : Begin a dialog to enter a specific album name.
“Play Album <album name>” : Begin playback of a specific album.
“Play Song” : Begin a dialog to enter a specific song name.
“Play Song <song name>” : Begin playback of a specific song, if available.
“Play Genre” : Begin a dialog to enter a specific genre.
“Play Genre <genre name>” : Begin playback of a specific genre.
“Play Playlist” : Begin a dialog to enter a specific playlist name.

“Play Playlist <playlist name>” Begin playback of a specific playlist.
“Play <device name>” : Play music from a specific device identified by name.

The device name is the name displayed when the device is first selected as an audio source.

Thanks @redwngr I guess I'm not understanding or I'm doing something wrong.

If I'm on my USB key, and select an artist, (or song) it will continue to play that artist. I can go to FM and come back to USB, it will continue with that artist.

I tried saying "play USB" and it switches over to USB, but continues on that 1 artist. How do you "exit" playing a single artist or song?  can't find a way to "shuffle all songs" or something.

thanks

Does the usb you are using display a 'name' when it is plugged in?

Try using that name - "Play <usbname>

"Play usb' probably returns to playing the usb in the same mode as it was last used.

Is it playing songs in the order they are saved on the usb?

When playing  a usb/album/playlist/artist there should be a 'shuffle' icon that can be pressed.

(so the songs included in the shuffle would depend on what songs were included in the current play mode)

@redwngr no name is displayed on my usb, it just says "USB" on the left menu. Maybe i need to take it out and give it a name on my computer?

I think you need to make a playlist with all of the music in it, so you can then say "Play playlist [name]" and it would select from the full list of songs. Down side would be that it would probably play the same song to start, but with shuffle I think you'd be ok after that.

Hello, I guess that you listen to music via Apple music app?

I'm using a USB key.

I still haven't been able to figure this out. The only way I know how to do this is to:

  • Say "Play song Hotel California"
  • Now I'm stuck on this single song.
  • To get out of it, I press the "browse" button
  • Select "songs"
  • Click on any song (doesn't matter what)
  • Now when pressing "next track" it'll go to a random song.

Pretty weird there's not a "exit artist" or "single song" option. I think ford is "shuffle all"

I had this problem when I first got my Camaro.  I think I had to turn off shuffle and turn it back on.  But that was 8 years ago, so...
