Not to stray from the temperature topic, but there is two levels of Trail Boss.  Custom, which is based on the Custom trim aka WT trim, and LT Trail Boss which is based on the RST trim (you can get buckets, auto climate control, roof, etc.).  LT Trail Boss is closer to AT4 but AT4 is = SLT/LTZ which is why you can get HUD and the surround cameras.

Yeah It may be part of the sensing system. I don't believe that s the sole factor. That sensor may tell if it's cloudy or sunny. It can be sun shining outside but, still be very cold. I use a window shade in my truck and it still works with the A/C coming on during remote start.
