It died on my wife today 2001 2500 with 8.1. Very strange... 1/2 tank of gas...it would just spin the motor over....no fire!

At the dealer we will see.

fuel pump

I'll second that happend to a freind on mine '97 yukon the other night. They hit the gas tank a couple of times with a roll of duct tape and then the pump took off and the vehicle started. Time for a new pump.

Miket,

Was that under warranty? I have a 2001 Burban that's about 3k miles from being out of warranty and I'm searching eBay now for an OBD II scanner for times like that!

Thanks,

No it wasn't under warranty and an OBD scanner won't help you. I believe they are go/no go sensors...if they are no go, it means your truck doesn't go. Not sure how an OBD scanner would "forewarn" you if thats what you mean.

You're right on the scanner not picking it up before hand. If you had a scanner and the Burban died you MAY be able to pull out a code that the particular sensor was dead. Not sure. It's also a pain in the rear to tow it home, pull the code, go to the parts store, get the part, install it and then retest it RATHER THAN just towing it to the dealer and driving it home!

Glad to hear it's all tight and ready to run again.

The exact same thing just happened to my Suburban. Same truck, 2001 2500 with 8.1L. Mine is a broken valve spring and bent valve. Should get it back today.
