king coilover spring preload

I have a 2017 gmc sierra regular cab short bed 4x4 and my 2.5 oem king shocks is on the way. I am wondering if they will come already preloaded from king ? 

 

Another thing is i am trying to understand coilover spring load but i still could not find the answer for what i am looking for... I understand that the springs should have preload weight on them in order to work properly but i would like to know how to adjust the preload to what i like and how the spring will act if increased the preload on the spring (too much spring load) or what will it do if does not have enough spring load ? 

 

Does increasing the spring load adds ride height ?   ... if im not mistaken it will affect spring softness too right ?

Yes, adding preload will increase the ride height.

Unless you are trying to gain some height, do not change the preload. King sets them up perfectly before they go out the door. If you are looking to gain some lift,  just add a leveling kit.

I've had mine a couple of years now. They come with the 750# spring an no preload. On my truck (V6) that had them very near the top of the stroke. I swapped to 600# springs to get them close to mid stroke and still haven't any preload. I should go to the 500# spring and then I would be on center with some preload. Point is the front half weight will determine which spring and how much preload, if any. Truth is they are 13" springs in a 10" setup so the actually have 3" of preload with zero 'extra' on the collar. They ALL have 750# from the factory and 12 -flutter-12 valving with medium wt. oil and 250 psi N2 in the chambers.
