Jump seat console shoulder seatbelt jabbing my leg

I just picked up a 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 with the jump seat console in the middle. When I took it for a test drive there was no issue. However, after a week of driving, the guard for the shoulder strap is starting to hurt my left leg from the constant pressure. I have long legs and the shoulder strap guard is acting like a fulcrum for my leg. I took of the cowling just to find a welded metal guard which is not any better. What are my options here? Take it to a body shop and have the guard removed? Get a different console?

Welcome to the club.  

 

I went through the same process as you trying to remove the cover, seeing the steel bar, and getting frustrated.  In my owner review I submitted for GM, I brought it up since its the most asinine design feature I have ever seen on a Chevy truck.  Until I can get a floor console setup from an RST or LTZ, I'm stuck with it.  However, I folded up a beach towel and placed it between the jump seat cushion and fold down console, effective lifting the shoulder belt piece a few inches above my leg to where it sits above my leg for the most part, but it still makes contact.  I love this truck otherwise, but it is probably the one thing I hate the most about this truck and its a significant enough distraction while driving that if the next model GM has the same setup, I wont be purchasing one again.  

 

Also, I think you meant your right leg, not your left.

I made a wedge out of a styrafoam and covered it with black material. It works great!
